Hot on the heels of this morning’s announcement of the start of filming on the new “Star Wars: Starfighter” movie, one more name appears to have joined the cast.
“2 Fast 2 Furious” and “Holy Motors” star Eva Mendes, wife of Ryan Gosling in real life, will reportedly play the wife of Gosling’s character in the film according to scooper DanielRPK.
The actress/model/businesswoman has been retired from films for the past decade though did do a voice cameo in an episode of “Bluey” back in 2021. Her last two films involved her husband – “The Place Beyond the Pines” and “Lost River”.
She joins a cast that includes Gosling, Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams.
The film is dubbed an all-new standalone adventure and entirely original story set in a period of time never before explored in Star Wars. Jonathan Tropper pens the script while Levy and Kathleen Kennedy produce.
“Star Wars: Starfighter” will be released theatrically on May 28th 2027.
