Cynthia Erivo and Andy Serkis will star alongside Idris Elba in the planned feature film installment of the BBC’s acclaimed crime series “Luther” at Netflix.
Series creator Neil Cross penned the script and Jamie Payne, who directed the fifth season, is helming the project which begins shooting in November.
The story centers on Elba reprising his Detective Chief Inspector John Luther role – a brilliant officer so obsessed with his work he is willing to go down the darkest of paths.
In the film he will have to contend with a double threat – Erivo as a detective who is also Luther’s nemesis, and Serkis as the story’s criminal villain.
Cross and Elba are producing along with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and David Ready.
