Emily Blunt is reportedly set to star as the female lead in the upcoming Dwayne Johnson-led film based on the Disneyland theme park ride “Jungle Cruise”.
Blunt would play a scientist who teams up with Johnson’s riverboat captain on the hunt for a magical cure. The aim is for a film in the style of “The African Queen” creatively, but one that also hopes to emulate the success of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films.
Jaume Collet-Serra (“The Shallows,” “The Commuter”) is on board to direct the film from a script by Michael Green, J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. Filming is slated to begin in May.
