Elvis’ Estate Unhappy With “Priscilla” Film?

A24

The Elvis Presley estate is reportedly not happy with Sofia Coppola’s upcoming A24 film “Priscilla” according to a recent TMZ report.

In the film, teenage Priscilla Beaulieu (Cailee Spaeny) meets Elvis Presley (Jacob Elordi) at a party. The man is already a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar and becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, a vulnerable best friend.

Through Priscilla’s eyes, the story explores the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla’s long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland.

According to the outlet, multiple officials connected to the estate are not happy with the film, with one who has seen it dubbing it “horrible” and adding that “it feels like a college movie. The set designs are just horrific. It’s not what Graceland looks like.”

Meanwhile, the real Priscilla Presley herself tells the outlet: “[Coppola] has such an extraordinary perspective and I have always been such an admirer of her work. [I’m] certain this movie will take everyone on an emotional journey.”

The story is based on Priscilla Presley’s tell-all memoir “Elvis and Me”, which deals with her husband at some of his darkest hours, including addiction and infidelity.

Also starring are Raine Monroe Boland as Lisa Marie Presley, Emily Mitchell as Lisa Marie Presley, Jorja Cadence as Patsy Presley, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll as Alan ‘Hog Ears’ Fortas, Luke Humphrey as Terry West, and Dagmara DomiÅ„czyk.

“Priscilla” is on track for an October release in cinemas.
