“Elden Ring,” the highly anticipated RPG title from “Dark Souls” and “Bloodborne” developer FromSoftware, has been delayed a month.
Originally slated for a January 21st, 2022 release, the title is now coming out on February 25th, 2022 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The game’s scope has been cited as the reason for the delay as its “depth and strategic freedom” has “exceed [its] initial expectations”.
The title is an open-world one that lets players freely explore its six main areas – each with their own secrets and skills. A closed network test is set to be conducted next month.
The new date puts it square in a massively crowded period of gaming with “Horizon Forbidden West,” the “Saints Row” reboot, “Dying Light 2 Stay Human,” “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction,” “Evil Dead” The Game,” “Gran Turismo 7,” “Sifu,” the “Life is Strange” remaster, “King of Fighters XV,” “Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires,” and “Destiny 2: The Witch Queen” all releasing within the late January-early March window.
Important message:
ELDEN RING will release on Feb 25, 2022, as the depth & strategic freedom of the game exceeded initial expectations. Thank you for your trust & patience. We look forward to seeing you experience the game in the Closed Network Test in Nov.
