Electronic Arts has set a new partnership with Middle-earth Enterprises and has begun developing the free-to-play mobile game “The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle Earth”.
The project, under the direction of EA’s Capital Games studio, is expected to enter “limited regional beta testing” this summer. This will mark the first mobile game developed by EA based on the storylines, locations and characters in J.R.R. Tolkien’s works.
The game plans to fit a wide roster of characters from across Tolkien’s works and EA promises “high-fidelity graphics, cinematic animations and stylized art” as well as “immersive storytelling, turn-based combat and deep collection systems.”
