Recently came the official announcement of a Paramount+ movie revival of MTV’s “Teen Wolf” series, though intriguingly the show’s two biggest breakout stars aren’t involved.
One is Tyler Hoechlin who is understandably busy with his commitments playing Clark Kent/Superman in The CW’s well-regarded “Superman and Lois” series.
The other is “The Maze Runner” and “Love and Monsters” star Dylan O’Brien. There’s no question O’Brien’s character of Stiles Stilinski, best friend of leading man Scott McCall (Tyler Posey), was the best character of the series and a career-launching turn for O’Brien.
Recently the actor spoke with Variety about his new feature “The Outfit” and was asked why he isn’t returning for the “Teen Wolf” movie. He says:
“It was a difficult decision. A lot went into it. The show couldn’t be more dear to me. It was the first thing I ever did I and so many people there are extremely dear to me. It was something I was trying to make work but it all happened very fast. We didn’t really know that it was happening and they kind of just threw it at us a little bit, which is fine because we all love the show. We were trying to figure it out.
Ultimately, I just decided it was left in a really good place for me and I still want to leave it there. I wish them well and I’m going to watch it the first night it comes out. I hope it f–king kicks ass, but I’m not going to be in it.”
Paramount+ announced the feature last month. Written and produced by series creator Jeff Davis, the film will see original cast members Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Colton Haynes, Shelley Hennig, Crystal Reed, Orny Adams, Linden Ashby, JR Bourne, Seth Gilliam, Ryan Kelley, Melissa Ponzio and Dylan Sprayberry all returning.
