Despite some high-profile misses of late such as “Black Adam” and the recent cancellation of “Young Rock,” you can’t keep Dwayne Johnson down it seems.
Johnson will be seen later this year in the Amazon Studios Original movie “Red One” alongside Chris Evans and J.K. Simmons. The project is seen as the first of a potential franchise, reimagining holiday mythology, and hails from director Jake Kasdan (“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”)
The latest edition of Puck News (via The Direct) newsletter reports that Johnson has earned an alleged $50 million for his lead role as Callum Drift, the Commander of the E.L.F. in the film.
If true, it’s not only the biggest paycheck of the actor’s career to date but would mark the biggest upfront salary payday any actor has received for a single role.
The buddy action comedy seeks to reinvent the Christmas genre and also stars Bonnie Hunt, Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Nick Kroll, and Kristofer Hivju.
Johnson has no shortage of projects on the way, including the live-action adaptation of Disney’s “Moana,” a “Red Notice” sequel, and the spin-off “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Reyes” on the way.
