“John Wick” and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” writer Derek Kolstad will pen and develop a TV series pitch based on the popular board game franchise “Dungeons & Dragons”.
Kolstad is expected to craft a story that will capture crucial aspects of the franchise through a live-action lens. No production timeline has yet been set.
The project is separate from the long-gestating film at Paramount Pictures, Hasbro and eOne. Last month came the news that Chris Pine was in negotiations to star for “Game Night” helmers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley to write and direct.
The story of that one follows a warrior and his band of mystical creatures as they embark on a dangerous journey to find a mythical treasure. It is currently targeting a May 2022 release.
The franchise has built a new audience as creators’ live streams picked up steam during the pandemic.
