“Dune: Messiah” Begins Filming Monday?

Warner Bros. Pictures

Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming “Dune: Messiah” at Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary will reportedly commence production as early as this coming Monday.

Actress Zendaya has been photographed arriving in Budapest ahead of production getting underway with the Hungarian Film Office listing a July 7th start according to DuneInfo.

A casting call is also out for bald actors to commence work from July 28th with the casting likely to be extras who are either Harkonnens or Tleilaxu. The shoot itself is expected to run for much of the back half of this year and span multiple locations.

Published in 1969, ‘Messiah’ kicks off events twelve years after those of “Dune” with Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) ruling as Emperor, married to Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh) while maintaining a relationship with his concubine, Chani (Zendaya).

Forces plot against him, including the Bene Tleilax – an arcane, xenophobic sect of genetic manipulators who traffic in biological products.

Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem and Anya Taylor-Joy aree also expected back from previous entries, and will be joined by Robert Pattinson who is rumored to be playing the Face Dancer Scytale, and both Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke as Paul’s children.

Linus Sandgren takes over as cinematographer while Hans Zimmer returns to do the score.

The recent “Dune: Part Two” brought in $714.6 million globally. “Dune: Messiah” is expected to hit cinemas on December 18th 2026.
