“Dune” Is Coming To “Flight Simulator”

Microsoft

In a strange bit of corporate synergy, Xbox is teaming up with Warner Bros. Discovery to bring the world of Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” film adaptation to “Microsoft Flight Simulator”.

The acclaimed simulator is getting a new expansion that’s centered around the “Dune” films, with a trailer shown off involving the House Atreides Ornithopter seen in 2021’s “Dune: Part One” flying over the endless desert and rocks of Arrakis.

Xbox dubs it “one of the most dynamic aircraft ever conceived” and says every system and control in the cockpit has been accurately recreated. The crossover DLC will be free for both PC and Xbox Series X|S users.

It marks the latest tie-in to the game from other media following both Halo’s UNSC Pelican and Top Gun Maverick’s F/A-18E Super Hornet-related content being added.

The Dune DLC will be released on November 3rd, the same day that “Dune: Part Two” makes its way to cinemas.

Microsoft is also working on “Flight Simulator 2024” which will be released next year on Xbox Series X/S and PC and will be available on Xbox Game Pass.

That will show different aviation-based jobs including everything from aerial firefighting and air ambulance to search and rescue, gliders, cargo transport and hot air balloon trips.
