Following the poster this morning, Warner Bros. Pictures has released a brief clip teasing tomorrow morning’s premiere of the first trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic “Dune: Part Two”.
The clip is mostly a scene in which someone plants a thumper into the sand to attract a sandworm. That leads to a made-for-trailer bit in which various members of the cast’s faces are shown – the biggest reveal is a look at a bald Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen.
Butler marks one of several new faces for the upcoming sequel and will be joined by Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV and Lea Seydoux as Queen Margot.
They join returnees Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.
The new film adapted the back half of Frank Herbert’s classic 1965 novel and wrapped filming in mid-December. In the second film, Paul and Lady Jessica have joined with the desert-dwelling Fremen to liberate the planet of Arrakis from the vicious House Harkonnen.
“Dune: Part Two” opens in cinemas on November 3rd 2023, with the trailer coming exactly six months out from the film’s release tomorrow (May 3rd) at noon US-EST.
