Every filmmaker has at least one passion project they always keep coming back to and, if lucky, get a chance to make.
For “Moon” and “Source Code” director Duncan Jones, that’s “Mute” – a story set in a future Berlin where a mute bartender goes in search of his abducted girlfriend.
Jones has had numerous problems getting the film made, mostly to do with financing and reticent investors. In a tweet over the weekend, the filmmaker indicated that some progress may have been made – though it depends on scheduling now.
Mute… Fighting like a nut to make it happen. Getting there, but its all in the lap of schedules now. Time! Why do you mock me so!

With Jones’ “Warcraft” film adaptation well into post and a many months off, there was hope “Mute” could be at least shot in the interim. Will this still happen? It’s wait and see for now.
