Netflix is sticking with “Stranger Things” creators Matt and Ross Duffer as the pair’s newly launched production company Upside Down Pictures has outlined their plans for several high-profile projects.

One will be a new live-action series adaptation of the celebrated Japanese manga “Death Note,” one unconnected to Adam Wingard’s 2017 live-action film that was critically panned.

An entirely new take on the source material from writer Tsugumi Ohba and artist Takeshi Obata, the manga follows a teenager who discovers a black notebook that winds up providing him power over life and death.

Also on the way is the long-gestating series adaptation of Stephen King and Peter Straub’s 1984 novel “The Talisman”. “Stranger Things” co-executive producer Curtis Gwinn is also onboard this screen take on the fantasy tale.

The story follows a young man who moves between New Hampshire and an alternate world called ‘The Territories’ to obtain an artifact that will save his mother’s life. Amblin Entertainment and Paramount Television will produce.

Three other projects were also confirmed – a new Stephen Daldry-directed stage play set within the world and mythology of “Stranger Things,” the aforementioned spin-off of that massive hit show, and an original series from “Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” duo Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews.

All five projects are currently in the development stages and will be produced via Upside Down. All are a part of a nine-figure overall deal with Netflix back in 2019 which also covers the previously announced fifth and final season of “Stranger Things”.
