“Mighty Ducks,” “Big Shot,” “Blood” All Cancelled

Disney+

Friday afternoon before a long weekend is always a good time to drop some bad news for the studios, and today they’ve done so by announcing three series cancellations with all three shows ending after having aired second seasons last year.

Paramount+ has confirmed “Blood & Treasure” won’t be returning for a third season at CBS or on the streamer. The action-adventure drama followed an antiquities expert Danny McNamara and art thief Lexi Vaziri who teamed up to catch a cold-blooded terrorist who funds his attacks through stolen treasure.

The unlikely pair are assisted throughout their adventures by Father Chuck, a childhood friend of Danny’s who works at the Vatican Foreign Ministry in Rome. Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia created the series.

Meanwhile, Disney+ has ditched two of its young athlete-themed series – the John Stamos-led “Big Shot” and the much-hyped “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers”.

“Big Shot” had Stamos as Marvyn Korn, a men’s basketball coach whose temperamental nature has him ousted from the NCAA and ends up coaching girls at an elite private high school.

Yvette Nicole Brown, Jessalyn Gilsig, Richard Robichaux, and Sophia Mitri Schloss co-starred in the David E. Kelley-created series.

“The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” meanwhile served as a follow-up to Steve Brill’s 1992 film “The Mighty Ducks” and set in present day Minnesota, where the Mighty Ducks had evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive youth hockey team.

Lauren Graham, Emilio Estevez, Josh Duhamel and Brady Noon starred in the series.
