Donald Glover Closes Major Amazon Deal

Rapper and actor Donald Glover has exited his deal at FX and closed a multiple-year, eight-figure overall deal with Amazon.

Glover will get his own content channel on Amazon’s Prime Video service, spotlighting his work and other curated content. That’s not all though as his brother Stephen Glover, who co-wrote and produced “Atlanta,” has also signed an overall deal with Amazon.

Glover will also executive produce other projects for Amazon, such as a potential series called “Hive” rumored to revolve around a Beyonce-like figure and hailing from “Watchmen” and “Away” writer Janine Nabers. Malia Obama has reportedly joined the writing staff of that project.

Glover’s move is not expected to impact FX’s “Atlanta” which has already been renewed for seasons three and four and will begin production on both seasons in March to be filmed back-to-back.

The announcement also comes just days after it was announced Glover and “Fleabag” creator/star Phoebe Waller-Bridge would team for a series adaptation of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”.
