If there’s one thing consistent with “Doctor Who,” it’s the costumes of the character themselves. From Tom Baker’s scarf and Sylvester McCoy’s cardigan, to David Tennant’s skinny suit and Matt Smith’s bowtie/suspenders – each Doctor has a signature look of their own with the odd bit of variation.
Ncuti Gatwa’s new Doctor (the Fifteenth Doctor) on the other hand seems to be changing things up a bit. Late last year came the first photo of Gatwa in costume – sporting an electric orange sweater, pendants, and a long coat and pants all in brown tartan.
Then in February, Gatwa was photographed in a quite different outfit – aquamarine pants, pink and orange tight-fitting shirt and oversized brown leather jacket.
Now, The BBC has released new photos of Gatwa and co-star Millie Gibson as companion Ruby Sunday who are both sporting 1960s period costume looks for an episode of the new run – and quite different looks again to their previous outfits. Check them out below.
Series fan favorite David Tennant, who portrayed the tenth Doctor from 2005 to 2010, will return as the fourteenth Doctor for a special series of three episodes airing in November 2023.
Tennant will be joined by his former co-star Catherine Tate, reprising her role as companion Donna Noble whilst Yasmin Finney and Neil Patrick Harris also have roles in those specials.
Gatwa is expected to appear in at least one of those before getting his first full series next year alongside Gibson. Russell T. Davies returns as showrunner for the specials and new series which will air on The BBC in the UK and on Disney+ internationally.
