Disney+ UK Press Launch Cancelled

Disney has cancelled plans for a European press launch for the Disney+ streaming service in London this week due to concerns over coronavirus fears.

Disney was hosting the party at the Exhibition London event space on March 5th which would’ve included exclusive presentations and a number of special guests.

Disney will instead promote the Disney+ launch through social media and press notices, and will still showcase the streaming service to select journalists during a demo in central London on Friday.

Disney also unveiled a multi-year distribution deal with Sky that would allow Sky subscribers to access the service via their existing Sky Q set-top boxes when Disney+ goes online on March 24th in the UK and much of western Europe.

The project marks just the latest major media event to be scrapped in the wake of concerns over the coronavirus pandemic. Hysteria, fuelled by the media, has resulted in various incidents in the past day or so from James Bond fan sites asking for the release of “No Time to Die” to be pushed, to shopping markets in numerous countries selling out of toilet rolls and sanitary products.
