A bunch of 20th Television titles are being removed from Disney-controlled Hulu in the coming days as their license deals expire, with Deadline reporting there are no plans to renew any of the pacts presently.
Around 18 series produced by 20th Television will be removed on September 30th, including David E. Kelley’s iconic legal series “Ally McBeal” and “The Practice”. Also out are iconic cop drama “Hill Street Blues,” Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse,” genre dramas “Damien” and “Touch,” and a bunch of comedies including “Arrested Development,” “Son of Zorn,” “Better Off Ted” and “The Bob Newhart Show”.
“Don’t Trust the B in APT 23”, “Second Chance”, “Shots Fired”, “Speechless”, “Out There”, “Legends” and “Breakout Kings” are also gone on that date.
Multiple competition series are also set to depart Hulu a few days earlier on Monday including “The Masked Singer,” “Masterchef and Masterchef Junior,” “Lego Masters,” “Next Level Chef,” “Crime Scene Kitchen” and “Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours To Hell And Back”.
Some Paramount and MTV catalog titles are also going including the entire VH1 hub, and old seasons of shows like “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” “Jersey Shore,” “The Hills,” and “Love & Hip Hop Hollywood”.
Additionally, it’s being reported by WrestlingInc that a bunch of WWE programming will expire shortly, the news following on the heels of a newly announced television deal between the WWE and NBCUniversal.
The moves come ahead of plans for Disney+ and Hulu to combine offerings into a ‘one-app experience’ by the end of the year, incorporating Hulu into the Disney+ app in the same way Star is incorporated into Disney+ in overseas markets.
