Disney Branded Television and Baobab Studios are teaming on “The Witchverse,” an animated anthology series for the Disney+ service.
Each episode of “The Witchverse” will comically explore and upend common misconceptions surrounding global witch mythology and lore from a range of cultures and perspectives around the world.
The series is based on Baobab’s Emmy-winning VR experience and animated short film “Baba Yaga” which offers a contemporary portrayal of that enigmatic witch character from Slavic folklore.
That short will serve as a starting point for episode one of the new series. Eric Darnell, who penned and directed the short, will executive produce the series which Disney Television Animation is overseeing.
