Disney+ has reportedly begun development of “Tink,” a live-action dramatic TV series based around the famed fairy Tinker Bell from “Peter Pan”.
The project is said to be a big one for the streamer and has reportedly been in the works for some time.
“Will Trent” co-showrunner Liz Heldens and “11.22.63” creator Bridget Carpenter, who previously worked together on NBC’s “Friday Night Lights,” are spearheading development of this updated version of the classic character originally created by J.M. Barrie.
Both are writing and executive producing, with Gary Marsh and Quinn Haberman also executive producing for Disney’s 20th Television division.
The character first appeared on screen in Disney’s 1953 animated movie “Peter Pan” and has appeared in many movies and series over the past 70 years, including Julia Roberts in “Hook” and Yara Shahidi in “Peter Pan & Wendy”
The project is completely separate from the live-action film that was in development a decade ago, with Reese Witherspoon set to play the character.
