Disney is reported to be actively looking to develop an “Indiana Jones” TV series for the Disney+ service.
According to Variety, Disney and Lucasfilm have specifically been bringing up the potential of a streaming series set in the world of the globe trotting archaeologist in general meetings with writers.
The companies are reportedly still looking for a writer to take on the project, so no plot details are available at present.
What’s not clear is the nature of the project – is it a prequel akin to “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles” series in the early 1990s, a spin-off of an existing character, a work that ties into the upcoming fifth film, or a full-on reboot.
Actor Harrison Ford has stated he is done playing the character after the fifth film which has completed filming and is due out next year. Disney is also said to be exploring a number of options to keep the franchise going.
