Disney+ Planning Ad-Supported Version

Disney Plus Orders A Karl Lagerfeld Series

Disney has announced plans for an ad-supported Disney+ subscription plan later this year. The AVOD tier of the service will be introduced beginning in the U.S. in late 2022 and expanded internationally in 2023.

No pricing or specific launch date was announced, but it’s expected to be less than the regular USD $7.99 per month ad-free version of the service.

It’s expected the addition of this tier will help the company reach a target of 230 million-260 million Disney+ subscribers worldwide by end of the 2024 fiscal year – around double what it was at the end of 2021.

HBO Max, Paramount+, Discovery+ and Peacock all offer ad-free (SVOD) and ad-supported (AVOD) plans, but Netflix and Amazon Prime only offer ad-free subscriptions.
