Disney, Marvel and several other indie distributors have shaken up the film release date schedule this week with a bunch of shifts and announcements.
The Lindsay Lohan-led “The Canyons” will score a simultaneous VOD, iTunes and select theater release on August 2nd 2013.
“Therese,” the Tom Felton and Elizabeth Olsen-led adaptation of Therese Raquin, is finally set for a theatrical release on September 27th.
Screen Media Films has acquired Suzanne Mitchell’s documentary “Running Wild: The Life of Dayton O. Hyde” which is targeting a limited theatrical and VOD release in October this year.
Disney has slotted in “Saving Mr. Banks,” the Tom Hanks-led film about the genesis of “Mary Poppins,” for a December 18th 2013 limited release.
“The Muppets” sequel has changed its title, it is now “Muppets Most Wanted” and still remains slated to open March 21st 2014.
The Jon Favreau-directed comedy “Chef” has set a May 9th 2014 release.
“Planes: Fire and Rescue,” a sequel to the soon to open Disney animated “Planes,” is already set for a July 18th 2014 release.
Lasse Hallestrom’s “The Hundred-Foot Journey” is now scheduled to open on August 8th 2014.
The Tarsem Singh-directed, Ryan Reynolds-led sci-fi feature “Selfless” has been given a September 26th 2014 release by FilmDistrict.
The Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner-led “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” has been slotted in for an October 10th 2014 release.
Brad Bird’s “Tomorrowland” has been bumped up a week and now hits December 12th 2014.
As a result, Rob Marshall’s fairy tale characters musical “Into The Woods” has been pushed into the Christmas Day 2014 slot.
Finally, two untitled Marvel movies are currently targeting a May 6th 2016 and May 5th 2017 release.
