The Walt Disney Company announced its fiscal third quarter results today and revealed it is following through on plans to raise streaming prices for its ad-free subscription tiers.
Both the ad-free tiers of Disney+ and Hulu will see $3 jumps in price – the former going from $10.99 to $13.99 a month, the latter from $14.99 to $17.99 a month. The tiers with ads remain $7.99 each.
However Disney is also offering a new bundled version of the two apps together for $19.99 a month (ad-free), whilst the existing double bundle with ads remains $9.99.
The previous bundle, which includes the pair and ESPN+, will raise its price from $19.99 to $24.99 for the ad-free version and from $12.99 to $14.99 for the version with ads.
The new bundle launches September 6th, whilst these new prices come into effect on October 12th. Disney is also planning to expand its ad-supported version of Disney+ to Europe and Canada from November 1st.
Disney chief Bob Iger also says that Disney will explore new ways of cracking down on illicit password-sharing and plans to “roll out tactics sometime in 2024,” saying the issue was “significant”.
