Disney Halts Production On Live-Action Films

Disney has announced that it is halting indefinitely both production and pre-production on multiple films in the works for both theatrical release and the Disney+ streaming service.

Those impacted include Ridley Scott’s “The Last Duel,” Guillermo del Toro’s “Nightmare Alley,” Rob Marshall’s live-action “The Little Mermaid,” David Lowery’s “Peter Pan & Wendy,” Dan Mazer’s “Home Alone” reboot,” Joe Johnston’s “Shrunk,” and Destin Daniel Cretton’s “Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings”.

A statement from the studio says: “While there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on our productions, after considering the current environment and the best interests of our cast and crew, we have made the decision to pause production on some of our live-action films for a short time. We will continue to assess the situation and restart as soon as feasible.”

“Shang-Chi” already halted first unit filming the other day but is now stopping completely. “The Little Mermaid” was to begin shooting in London this week, and Scott’s “The Last Duel” has been shooting in Ireland since February.
