Disney Pictures has opted not to go ahead with a theatrical release of a remastered 4K edition of iconic “Star Wars” title “The Empire Strikes Back”.
Word of the limited run came last week and was to take place in VUE Cinemas around the United Kingdom in an effort to entice people back into cinemas.
It would have marked the first time a “Star Wars” movie from the original trilogy had been screened to cinema audiences in 4K.
Now though, it has been revealed that talks broke down with exhibitors in the last few weeks which resulted in plans to show the UHD version of the film being scrapped. The standard 2K version of the movie is reportedly still scheduled for next month.
