“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series author Rick Riordan has announced that a TV series based on the popular young adult fantasy books is in development at the Disney+ service.
The work encompasses five novels and also spawned two follow-up series. They were also previously adapted as two feature films at 20th Century Fox starring Logan Lerman as the title character, the son of the Greek god Poseidon.
The movies aged up the characters from 12 to 16, but the potential series is expected to be a more faithful adaptation which will adapt one book per season beginning with “The Lightning Thief” in season one.
Riordan says he and his wife Becky will be involved “in every aspect of the show.”
