Even though filming is still ongoing for Marvel Studios’ “Hawkeye” series on the Disney+ service, the show may already have a spin-off in development.
Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen are attached to write and executive produce the new series centered on Echo, a deaf Native American character who will be played by Alaqua Cox in “Hawkeye”.
Echo/Maya Lopez, has the ability to perfectly mimic another person’s movements or fighting style – turning her into a formidable opponent in battle.
In the comics, she crosses paths with various characters like Daredevil, Moon Knight and Avengers. She was also the first person to be known as ‘Ronin’ before passing it onto original Hawkeye himself Clint Barton.
The project is still in the early stages of development with a writers room recently being assembled.
“Hawkeye” is written and executive produced by Jonathan Igla and will co-star the likes of Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Vera Farmiga, Florence Pugh, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton and Zahn McClarnon. It is expected to debut towards year’s end.
