Disney Pictures is reportedly developing a live-action film based on the story of “Rapunzel,” a tale they previously adapted into the famed animated feature “Tangled”.
The DisInsider broke the story, saying the new film is NOT being billed as a “Tangled” remake – though it’d be a shock if that film’s influence isn’t felt.
Ashleigh Powell (“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms”) has been hired to pen the screenplay, while no director is attached as yet with a search currently underway.
The property is also being developed as a theatrical release, one not for Disney+ such as the live-action “Lady and the Tramp” last year or the upcoming “Lilo & Stitch” live-action remake in development.
Michael De Luca and Kristin Burr are apparently set to produce.
