Disney Theatrical Productions has initiated early explorations for a live stage show featuring the Muppets.
Alex Timbers (“Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson”) helmed a short, but elaborate presentation held last month at Disney’s New Amsterdam Theater. Said presentation incorporated a handful of sets and more than 85 Muppets.
The experiment was reportedly conducted to see whether it would be feasible to present the Muppets in a live theatrical context. It reportedly went well.
At this time though, it is too early to say whether a project will develop out of it.
