Discovery+ SVOD Service Sets January Launch

Discovery has announced the launch of Discovery+ on January 4th, a streaming service bringing together offerings from Discovery Channel, TLC, ID, Food Network, HGTV and others.

In total around 55,000 hours of programming will be available at launch – making it one of the most widely stocked SVOD services out there. In addition a partnership with Verizon will offer up to 55 million customers with select wireless and TV plans the option of 12 months of Discovery+ for free.

A global rollout of Discovery+ across an initial 25 countries has already begun with India, the U.K. and Ireland already able to access it. The service is expected to cost $5 a month with ads and $7 for an ad-free version.
