Directors Leitch, Craig, Burger Set New Films

David Leitch (“Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw,” “Deadpool 2”) has been set to direct the action feature “Bullet Train” at Sony Pictures. Antoine Fuqua originally developed the project and will produce with Leith, Kat Samick, Kelly McCormick

Based on the Japanese novel “Maria Beetle” by Isaka Kotaro and adapted by Zak Olkewicz (Leitch will oversee a rewrite), the story involved a battle of snipers on the titular high speed train.

Leitch isn’t the only director scoring a new gig today. Filmmaker Eli Craig (“Tucker & Dale vs Evil”) has signed on to direct the horror rom-com “The Hills Have Eyes For You” at Netflix.

“Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon” co-writer David Stieve penned the film with plot details under wraps. In a statement, producer Dan Farah says it is a: “fresh and fun love story set against the backdrop of an elevated horror comedy”.

Finally, Neil Burger (“Divergent,” “The Upside”) has been set to direct the live-action sci-fi feature “Summer Frost” at Skydance and Temple Hill, based on a short story by Blake Crouch. Marty Bowen, Isaac Klausner, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger are producing.

The action follows a VR game designer whose world is forever changed when one of her non-player characters starts acting out of programming. Burger is currently finishing up post-production on the science-fiction film “Voyagers” starring Colin Farrell and Tye Sheridan.
