Legendary has closed a deal with Ryan and Andy Tohill (“The Dig”) to direct the latest reboot of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” franchise.
Tobe Hooper helmed the original 1974 feature which followed two siblings and three of their friends en route to visit their grandfather’s grave in Texas.
They end up falling victim to a family of cannibalistic psychopaths and must survive the terrors of Leatherface and his family.
The original spawned three sequels, then a 2003 reboot starring Jessica Biel that had major success. That reboot scored a 2006 prequel, then came a 2013 sequel and a 2017 prequel to the original film.
Chris Thomas Devlin will pen the script while Fede Alvarez and Rodolfo Sayagues are producing the new take which is a straight reboot with the Tohill’s take said to be “violent, exciting and so depraved that it will stay with you forever” according to Alvarez.
