Universal Pictures’ “Fast X” just held its world premiere in Rome, and series star Vin Diesel has teased the possibility of yet another film in the franchise beyond the already announced eleventh.
It has long been indicated that “Fast X” will serve as the first part of a two-part finale to the main franchise and has been marketed as the “beginning of the end of the saga”.
At the premiere, however, Diesel indicated to Variety that the studio has reportedly asked for a three-part finale rather than the previously set two-parter.
Diesel told the outlet: “Going into making this movie, the studio asked if this could be a two-parter. And after the studio saw this one, they said, ‘Could you make Fast X the finale, a trilogy?'”.
Franchise veteran Michelle Rodriguez then added: “It’s three acts in any story.” Then asked if they were confirming a twelfth “Fast & Furious” film, Diesel responded: “You’re gonna get me in trouble here.”
Rodriguez previously teased to Vanity Fair that “Fast X ” ends on a major cliffhanger leading into the next film saying: “after 23 years of shooting these things, it’s really tough at this stage to shock me, and they got me good.”
Louis Leterrier helms “Fast X” and is confirmed to be returning for the eleventh film.
