Vin Diesel has posted an open invite on his Instagram account asking actor Dwayne Johnson to return for the upcoming tenth entry in the “Fast & Furious” franchise.
Diesel expressed his wish for Johnson to reprise his role as Agent Luke Hobbs in the next film which is expected to be the first of a two-part franchise finale.
Johnson joined the franchise in 2011’s “Fast Five” as Diplomatic Security Service agent Hobbs – initially an adversary to Diesel’s Dominic Toretto before teaming up with the crew in the sixth through eighth films.
Johnson bowed out of the ninth installment and instead headlined the spin-off “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw”. However, both Diesel and Johnson have made headlines in recent years for an offscreen feud than anything onscreen.
In Diesel’s post, he says in part: “I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfil your destiny.”
The full posting can be seen below. Justin Lin will helm the next film in the series which is currently targeting an April 7th 2023 release.
