Diego Luna Departs “Scarface” Remake

Diego Luna Departs Scarface Remake

Actor Diego Luna has confirmed to Collider that he is no longer attached to star in the modern remake of “Scarface” that’s been in development for several years at Universal Pictures.

The last update came nearly two years ago with Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer set to re-write a script that the likes of David Ayer, Jonathan Herman and the Coen brothers had all had a go at. Antoine Fuqua was attached to direct at the time but there’s been little movement on the feature.

Luna meanwhile has been starring as a Scarface-esque drug kingpin figure in “Narcos: Mexico” for Netflix, his second season on that series arriving next week, and Luna will shoot Lucasfilm’s Cassian Andor series for Disney+ in the back half of this year.
