“Law and Order” and “Chicago” franchise creator/producer Dick Wolf has locked down a massive new five-year, nine-figure deal between Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television spanning broadcast and streaming.
The deal follows on from a major new nine-figure non-exclusive deal NBCUniversal’s streamer Peacock recently made for the majority of Wolf’s back catalogue of works – with the combined value of the two pacts believed to be close to $1 billion.
As part of Wolf’s new deal, NBC has given three-year renewals to all four of his series on the network – “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago P.D.” and “Chicago Med” along with “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” which is already the longest-running live-action primetime program in TV history and will now run through to at least a 24th season.
The new deal also includes multiple series commitments for new shows across different platforms.
