DiCaprio’s Appian Way Sets Apple Deal

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way production company has closed a first-look film and TV deal with Apple.

Under the deal, the company will develop new TV series and films for the tech giant with it likely to produce new TV series and films for its Apple TV+ service. Appian Way previously had a three-year film deal with Paramount and before that Warner Bros. Pictures.

The agreement extends the relationship beyond two ventures already in the works – the “Shining Girls” TV series starring Elisabeth Moss, and the upcoming Martin Scorsese dark period feature “Killers of the Flower Moon” which Paramount will distribute theatrically before heading to the Apple TV+ service.

That film’s cinematographer Rodrigo Pierto tells Vanity Fair the production is faced with a challenge in the pandemic era as Scorsese and De Niro are in the age where they’re high risk – Scorsese especially so as he has asthma.
