DiCaprio, Apple Consider “Heat 2” Involvement?

Warner Bros. Pictures

Leonardo DiCaprio’s name has reportedly entered the casting mix in regards to Michael Mann’s long awaited sequel to 1995 crime drama “Heat”.

Puck News has published a long report going into the behind-the-scenes issues with Warner Bros. Pictures regarding the film and it’s sizeable budget.

The film’s original budget came in at over $200 million but has since been whittled down to $170 million and still needs to go further down.

Warners is reportedly open to potentially partnering with another studio or streamer on the film with the script submitted to Apple for consideration.

While Adam Driver and Austin Butler are names that have both been linked to the project, DiCaprio’s potential involvement is new with the actor reportedly interested after having early conversations for an undisclosed lead role.

DiCaprio’s involvement would likely remove many budgetary concerns. Mann and DiCaprio nearly did a James Dean biopic together decades ago.
