As part of Activision Blizzard’s Q3 2021 (calendar) results conference call with investors, it was announced that the company is delaying both high-profile game sequels “Diablo IV” and “Overwatch 2”.

The company cites “new leadership” and “higher voluntary turnover” in both Blizzard and in certain key creative roles on the projects which means titles “will benefit from more development time to reach its full potential.”

Blizzard suffered a large number of firings and high-profile departures in recent months as news broke of multiple lawsuits alleging sexual harassment, assault, discrimination, and unfair labor practices in the company.

Both these titles in particular lost their directors Luis Barriga and Jeff Kaplan which understandably impacts development time. Peviously the company was hinting at a 2022 release but now it’s likely both games will not appear until 2023.
