A couple of key release date changes have been announced by both Sony and Universal ahead of President’s Day weekend in the United States.
Sony has set a December 25th release date for the Tom Hanks-led “A Man Called Otto,” and moved up the Kasi Lemmons-directed Whitney Houston biopic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by two days to a December 21st opening.
They’ve also dated the Sandra Oh horror pic “Umma” for March 18th, while the Jack Black comedy “Oh Hell No” has been pulled off the schedule from its planned June opening.
The Sam Raimi-produced Adam Driver-led sci-fi thriller “65” has been pushed back a full year from April 29th this year to April 14th 2023. The $91 million-budgeted project, helmed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, was shot in late 2020 in Louisiana.
Over at Universal, Illumination Entertainment’s fourth “Despicable Me” movie has set a July 3rd 2024 release date. In addition, a new Illumination feature titled “Migration” will arrive on June 30th 2023.
