Derrickson To Helm A “Labyrinth” Sequel

“Doctor Strange” and “Sinister” helmer Scott Derrickson has been set to direct a sequel to Jim Henson’s “Labyrinth” which is currently in the works at TriStar Pictures.

David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly led the 1986 original about a young girl who goes after her baby brother who has been kidnapped by Jareth the Goblin King and taken back to his realm – a massive maze in which he resides at the center. The film has been a cult smash for decades.

Maggie Levin, who wrote and directed Hulu’s “Into the Dark” and “My Valentine,” will write the script. Derrickson passed on returning to the ‘Strange’ sequel over creative differences.

Lisa Henson is producing, Brian Henson while Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill are also executive producing.
