“Dept. Q” Renewed For Season Two

Netflix

Netflix has renewed its Edinburgh-set cold case police drama “Dept. Q” for a second season. The order comes three months after the series debuted back in May.

Matthew Goode stars as DCI Carl Morck, a brilliant cop but a terrible colleague whose razor-sharp sarcasm has alienated him in the Edinburgh police.

After a shooting leaves a young cop dead and his partner paralysed, he finds himself exiled to the basement and the sole member of the newly formed cold case unit Department Q.

The department is a PR stunt to distract the public from the failures of an under-resourced, failing police force. But soon, Carl starts to build himself a group of fellow misfits who have everything to prove.

As the stone-cold trail of a prominent civil servant who disappeared several years ago starts to heat up, Carl gets back to doing what he does best – rattling cages and refusing to take no for an answer.

Frank both wrote and directed the nine-episode run which also stars Chloe Pirrie, Alexej Manvelov, Kelly Macdonald, Kate Dickie and Leah Byrne.

The first season scored very good reviews and spent six weeks in the Netflix Top 10.
