Denzel Washington: “I’m Tired of Movies”

Paramount Pictures

Out promoting Spike Lee’s new film “Highest 2 Lowest,” actor Denzel Washington took an interesting approach – he revealed that he doesn’t watch films any more.

Participating in a GQ roundtable with Lee and co-star A$AP Rocky, Washington says that with over forty film credits to his name over the past forty-four years, he’s made too many of them:

“I don’t watch movies, man. I really don’t. I’m just being honest with you! I don’t watch movies! I don’t go to the movies. I don’t watch movies. … I’m tired of movies. Yeah.”

Lee then asked Washington how many movies he’s made, to which the actor responded: “Too many. I think 50!”. “Highest 2 Lowest” marks the fifth collaboration between Washington and Lee.

Though he’s won two and been nominated for nine, Washington has famously stated in the past he’s not interested in Oscars – saying awards aren’t what he’s pursuing.

“Highest 2 Lowest” is now playing in select cinemas and becomes available to stream on Apple TV+ starting September 5th.
