Two weeks ago, there was a report that “Agatha All Along” star Kathryn Hahn was being sought for the villainous role of Mother Gothel in Disney’s planned live-action remake of its 2010 animated feature “Tangled”.

Today, scooper MyTimeToShineH is reporting that two names are in consideration for the two female lead roles in “Tangled” – music icon Taylor Swift for the lead role of Rapunzel, and Oscar nominee Demi Moore for the Mother Gothel role.

The scooper says both are only being considered, a long way from potential talks. Last month, Michael Gracey, the director of “The Greatest Showman” and “Better Man,” entered negotiations to direct the film.

The original was a modern retelling of the classic Rapunzel fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. Mandy Moore played Rapunzel, a spirited young princess with magical, golden hair who escapes from her isolated tower for the first time to experience the world – embarking on an adventure with a charming thief (Zachary Levi).

She discovers her true identity and faces the dangerous truth about the woman (Donna Murphy) who kept her captive. The movie grossed over $590 million worldwide and scored an Oscar nomination.

Plot details of the live-action version are under wraps, but there have been conflicting reports as to whether it will follow the lines of animated version (eg. “Aladdin”), or be more a subversion (eg. “Maleficent”). Demi Moore, in particular, could play “Tangled” either way it goes.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (“Thor: Love and Thunder”) penned the most recent draft of the “Tangled” script. Kristin Burr and Lucy Kitada will produce.
