Deathstroke, Authority & More DC Updates

WB Games

A couple more DC project updates have come forward in the last few days, some from scoopers, some from DC Studios chief James Gunn himself.

First up, The Box Office Podcast reports that Matthew Orton (“Captain America: Brave New World,” “Moon Knight”) has submitted his script for a “Deathstroke and Bane” film to Gunn and Peter Safran.

The project was first revealed back in September, though at the time it wasn’t clear if it would be a part of the DC Universe or an ‘Elseworlds’ work. Since then, it’s been indicated it will indeed be part of the DCU.

As part of his Happy Sad Confused interview, Gunn has revealed that “The Authority” movie has essentially stalled as the film’s writer has moved onto another project within the DCU – one that’s going along much faster. The writer wasn’t named.

He confirmed that Luca Guadagnino is off the “Sgt Rock” movie, but the film is still alive and he has huge hopes it’ll get moving again. He also says he talked with filmmaker James Mangold the other day about “Swamp Thing” and confirmed the director hasn’t been delivered a script yet.

With “Wonder Woman” he says he’s “very excited about Wonder Woman right now” and emphatically says “yes” repeatedly when asked about the script’s status and if there’s a new take he’s happy with. He also adds that it is “very” distinctly different from what we’ve seen before.

Finally, Gunn confirmed on Threads that he is not writing the second season of “Creature Commandos” with a writer’s room working on the scripts.
