20th Century Studios has released several new photos from Kenneth Branagh’s new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “Death on the Nile” ahead of the film’s October 23rd theatrical release.
Branagh also reprises his “Murder on the Orient Express” role of Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot who is on an Egyptian vacation aboard a glamorous Nile river steamer which turns into a terrifying search for a murderer when a picture-perfect couple’s idyllic honeymoon is tragically cut short.
The late Christie remains the bestselling author of all time, her novels having sold more than two billion copies. Even so, book sales for her novels recently spiked after “Murder on the Orient Express” included a line teasing “Death on the Nile” in its final moments.
James Prichard, Agatha Christie’s great-grandson and the CEO/Chairman of Agatha Christie Limited, tells Cinema Blend: “The amazing thing was after that line in Murder, Death on the Nile took off, straight after we mentioned it in Murder on the Orient Express. And we’ve had an increase in sales of everything currently, and actually, particularly in the US. Which is one of the most pleasing things. So yes, we obviously sold a considerable of Murder on the Orient Express, but we’ve also sold a considerable number of everything.”
Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Tom Bateman, Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright star in “Death on the Nile” which marks one of the final films greenlit by Fox before Disney acquired the studio.
