“Deadpool” Creator On Wolverine Inclusion

20th Century Studios

So far reaction has been unanimously positive to the news of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman teaming up to reprise their roles of Deadpool and Wolverine in “Deadpool 3” at Marvel Studios.

It has also understandably spawned plenty of discussion into how Wolverine will return. One person who has now weighed in on all this is Deadpool’s creator himself Rob Liefeld.

Liefeld has previously admitted nervousness about Deadpool’s crossover with the MCU, but is nothing but excited for what’s to come next.

Speaking with Comicbook’s Phase Zero podcast recently, he revealed what he thinks we’ll probably see saying we’ll likely get something akin to Bing Crosby-Bob Hope road pictures, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and “Lethal Weapon” in terms of two characters – one more serious and one quite lippy – bouncing off each other. He also revealed an R-rated scene he has in mind for the characters:

“Wouldn’t we just watch them drive across America? Wouldn’t we just watch them walk through a mall? I mean, they both have a healing factor. I can see a healing factor one-off, where the two just decapitate each other and regrow limbs, right? Or at the very least Wolverine slices generous pieces of Deadpool off.”

Liefeld has been outspoken for his support of all things Deadpool, but it’s not clear if he’ll be involved in the Reynolds-Jackman-led threequel which is set to hit cinemas on September 6th 2024.
