Lucca De Oliveira (“The Punisher”) and Devyn A. Tyler (“Out Of Blue”) have joined CBS’ “Clarice,” based on the famous Clarice Starling character from Thomas Harris’ Hannibal Lecter novels.
Set in 1993, a year after the events of “The Silence of the Lambs,” the series explores the untold personal story of Clarice Starling (Rebecca Breeds) as she returns to the field to pursue serial murderers and sexual predators while navigating the high-stakes political world of Washington DC.
De Oliveira will play Tomas Esquivel, a counter-sniper and agent who is initially suspicious of Clarice, and is torn between his love of service and belief the FBI needs to shake off its ‘old school’ mentality.
Tyler will portray Ardelia Mapp, Clarice’s closest friend and FBI Academy roommate who is now an assistant U.S. Attorney who is vocal and open about the discrimination that’s rampant in the Bureau. Kasi Lemmons played the role in the 1991 “The Silence of the Lambs” film.
Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet pen and executive produce the series which has received a big series commitment. Maja Vrvilo (“Star Trek: Picard”) has been tapped to direct the pilot.
